An eMarketer report examines the potential of mobile brand advertising. The global budget for mobile brand advertising is expected to rise to $3.6 billion in 2011, from $123.8 million in 2006. In terms of mobile content, news and information is the leader, with sports being among the most popular within that category. Initial metrics indicate that mobile video could be an effective means of targeting mobile users - mobile video users say they would tolerate ads for free content and have higher levels of ad recall vs. other mobile application users (e.g., games and audio).
